It was National Chocolate Cake Day on Wednesday of this week past and it almost passed me by. I had intended to post this recipe roundup then, but better late than never.
We have posted quite a number of chocolate cakes here over the years and they have all been incredibly popular. Everyone loves chocolate cake, right?
As Spouse always says, “Sometimes you just need a good piece of chocolate cake.” I’m totally with her on that one.
An otherwise dull restaurant dessert menu can be saved, just by including a really great chocolate cake. I know I have ordered many and am pretty rarely disappointed. It’s often as close to my “best bet” dessert as I can find.
For both Spouse and I, the best chocolate cake is what our son Noah would call “just a chocolate cake”. That means just a good chocolate cake with chocolate frosting. Nothing else needed. (Remember he’s the kid who always insists on Just an Apple Pie.)
That most often takes the form of this Chocolate Fudge Cake, but many times we switch the frosting for a quicker chocolate buttercream frosting like we use on this Orange Velvet Cake. (Yes, yet another chocolate orange combination. I so love it.)
